People laugh when you tell them you
 can build yachts from cement!
You start by making the 'ribs' from concrete reinforcing steel
which you then hang in a large wooden frame.

These are held in shape by more steel rods and 6 to 8 layers of
chicken wire are added to form a framework for the cement.
The concrete has been applied and the hull steamed
for 24 hours to harden it off.
All windows, portholes, in and outlets are performed
with wooden plugs.
The deck will be concreted separately later.

This is the final phase before launching.

The hulls been painted with a black tar based
anti-fouling and the deck is a fetching shade of blue :~)
It's a pity I don't have any photo's of the massive crane
that picked up all 16 tons of boat and lifted it over the
trees in the background into the Appledoorns Canal !
