Although I really love plants, I think that gardening is more about the space one creates to grow plants in. I love modern designs, and much prefer this city garden to the wooded one I have previously !

Spring 1996

View from the bedroom window. The galvanised steel trellis is weathering well and the wisteria will soon make a shady nook on hot days. Variegated ivy's, passion flower, honeysuckle, clematis and several roses will enliven the trellis and walls.

The plantings filling out, some statues have been added and those trees at the rear will soon hide the apartments.

Summer 2001

Six years later the garden has filled out and become a peaceful oasis.

The pond was removed after it froze solid every winter. It's been replaced by a tin bath from Ikea and three plastic ducks.

The Tropoleum tuberosium is scrambling up the trellis and will look spectacular in a couple of months time.

Left :The view back towards the house.

The passion flower is doing it's utmost to cover the wall before the end of summer and the Rhus typhina tree does well in its large pot

Pots of tender plants enhance the area. Phormium, Abutilon and Fuchsia's enjoy their summer places.

Spring 2002

Right : The bog standard ivy has been pruned back to allow more delicate types to take over the wall.

The wisteria's is in full bloom and the wallflowers add a splash of colour in the foreground.

Albert the Albatross stands guard and the pots await being filled with annuals.

Summer 2006

A more tropical feel this year as the plants fill out the space.

Pots of tender plants enhance the area.

Three years of thinking we were going to move to France,
left the garden somewhat bare, so in 2009 it was time for a re-vamp.

The decking was past it's sell by date and we replaced it with gravel.
New garden furniture, tThe tree was moved to the centre of the garden,
The trellis pruned of all the climbers, and it now looks a lot different !
