The Front Garden and Driveway
(well maybe parking space is a better word)
 |
1996
: The ivy has been attacked with a machete, the rhododendrons have
had a few good feeds, there is a bit more colour in the form of
roses, hydrangeas, clematis and some bulbs. There's now a seat cum
planter by the front door and the boring white paint work has been
replaced by Grecian blue. |

Spring
1998 : The ivy's back, the white clematis has gone mad, there
are foxgloves, a climbing rose, honeysuckle, azaleas, begenia and
a holly tree. Due to the number of small children that play in out
street, there are not too many delicate plants. Retrieving a football
from a clump of wafting delphiniums is not an option ! |

Summer 2006 The ivy has completely covered the front of the house. We've chopped the tree on the left down and now have a rose and a campsis growing up the (tall) stump |

Detail by the front door |

Border edging consists of empty
wine bottles !
Fun to make 'hic' and very hardwearing.
Simply dig a small trench, tap the
bottles into place with a rubber hammer and refill the earth around
them.
