Being the first born and a boy, I think he probably got preferential treatment ...going to a photo studio must have been a luxury just after WWI. Here he is in (probably) his first suit :

 

Born more or less 9 months to the day after his parents married - presumably Sarah Josling was a virgin at the time :~)) A few years on and another new suit
(in the garden at Elmsleigh Road, Wandsworth)

 

Roehampton Sports Club

He started work in 1928 when he was 14 at the Roehampton Sports Club
as an office boy and ball boy on the tennis courts.
He progressed via the games office to being a Junior Clerk, before being called up to go to fight in WWII.

His first wage was 15 shillings a week, with lunch and tea included!

Over the 11 years he worked there, his wage increased to £1.12.6d

Served in the 50, 8 and 2nd Battalion. Fought in Italy, India, Egypt and
with the signals platoon during the Burma campaign.

When first married they lived with Vera's mum at nr 20 latchmere Road and later they all moved to nr 16

The family lived at 16, Lathcmere Road, Battersea, until Henry then got a job at English Electric in Stevenage (later BAC), and they moved to Stevenage New Town.

Henry died suddenly of a heart attack in 1970
